To me, the internet can be like a fantasy-land: you can create your own little mini-world, just the way you want the world to be! This is one of the things Sublime Creatures does for me...I live a lot of my life in a bit of a fantasy world anyway, and am really, REALLY visually-obsessed. I can spend hours and hours pulling all different kinds of images off the internet, in a sort of trance...I'm always re-making the world over to suit my own imagination and needs. I think we all do this, to some degree, don't we? We all kind of walk around within the world that WE have created and interpreted, which is unique to us and which we can never actually step out of: because it IS us: what we see is a function of what what/who we ARE.
So, just for fun, I've decided that I will also frequently post photos and other images on this blog that kind of capture this imaginative world-creating thing...things that I love to look at, things that inspire me creatively, things that seem to capture a feeling or atmosphere or a quality of light or some other quality I'd like to add to my world in some way...Maybe by making something (a song, a painting, a photograph, an embroidery piece, a skirt...) that incorporates that element or quality or atmosphere for me in some way.
Some of the images are beautiful, some are funny, some are magical, some are kitschy, some capture things from my childhood for me, some come straight from books from the 1960's or 1970's that now look as if they are from a completely different planet! Anyway, I hope you enjoy them and have fun looking at new ones I've posted.

This is the same reason I prefer craft encyclopedias and magazines from the 70s, although I hadn't put my finger on it before. I feel as if I can capture some of that essence, the quality of being in the photos. Which is, I suppose, a bit of my deep-down nostalgia... but more, too, because I also feel that way about some 60s stuff.
Lovely blog! :-)
