I am having so much fun...

La la la....more....

Here are some more things to look at!

I have a ton that I want to put on, and also new craft pictures, with prices in case anyone wants to purchase them! These will be up in the next 3 or 4 days, I promise. I've been crocheting like crazy when I have the time, also doing lots of writing & guitar playing.

Sublime Creatures Inspirations...

To me, the internet can be like a fantasy-land: you can create your own little mini-world, just the way you want the world to be! This is one of the things Sublime Creatures does for me...I live a lot of my life in a bit of a fantasy world anyway, and am really, REALLY visually-obsessed. I can spend hours and hours pulling all different kinds of images off the internet, in a sort of trance...I'm always re-making the world over to suit my own imagination and needs. I think we all do this, to some degree, don't we? We all kind of walk around within the world that WE have created and interpreted, which is unique to us and which we can never actually step out of: because it IS us: what we see is a function of what what/who we ARE.

So, just for fun, I've decided that I will also frequently post photos and other images on this blog that kind of capture this imaginative world-creating thing...things that I love to look at, things that inspire me creatively, things that seem to capture a feeling or atmosphere or a quality of light or some other quality I'd like to add to my world in some way...Maybe by making something (a song, a painting, a photograph, an embroidery piece, a skirt...) that incorporates that element or quality or atmosphere for me in some way.

Some of the images are beautiful, some are funny, some are magical, some are kitschy, some capture things from my childhood for me, some come straight from books from the 1960's or 1970's that now look as if they are from a completely different planet! Anyway, I hope you enjoy them and have fun looking at new ones I've posted.

Black corduroy skirt with Heart Appliques and Buttons

Star Skirt

Earthy Wooden Bead necklace

I made this necklace when I was in a Beat mood, thinking about reading poetry in cafes wearing black stockings and beads...

Wooden Bead Necklace

I really do love this book, am not being pretentious or facetious -- one of my all-time favourites.

Crocheted Striped Red & Black Scarf

Beautiful Pup, Pretty Nice Scarf

...I just can't help myself....

Crocheted Multi-coloured Striped Scarf

Black pleated skirt with red stars

Pretty second-hand skirt -- I added red felt stars -- more things like this coming soon!

Brown Jacket with Flower Applique

Jacket is 2nd-hand, with a flower applique and green contrast stitching by moi.

A few photos at last!!

Yes, it's taken a LOT longer than I'd hoped, but I finally got a few (preliminary) photos uploaded to this (poor, too-long-neglected) site. One of the problems is that I no longer have a good camera to take pictures with, which is depressing. So I was forced, for now, to use my daughter's very basic digital camera to take them...Rather than wait even longer, until I can get my hands on a good camera, I decided to just go ahead and take bad quality but fun photos of some crafts....couldn't wait any longer!

Also, it's taking forever to coordinate getting friends to model, so guess what?? I used our sweet dog Rosie and my daughter's stuffed animals. Rosie is happy to pose for milk bones, though she looks a little hangdog in the pics, ha ha...More are coming, too...

The other delay is that I'm, as always, doing too many things at once, but I can't seem to help myself. Anyway, this is a dull blog, but I have a tooth infection and I'm hungry -- I'll write a MUCH more entertaining one tomorrow, ok?

Sublime Creatures:

I think making things is sublime, and the things that creatures make are sublime.

I think making things is one of the best things you can do.

I like things that are made by actual human beings, out of love and passion, obsession... I like things that FEEL like they were made that way...

Also, I don't like shopping in the malls, at Wal-Mart, etc...I don't want those big corporations to have my money - I don't want to encourage them! I don't like they way they treat people. I don't like the things they do to the earth, the economy, animals, culture, etc. The more things we make ourselves, the less things we have to buy from them.

Making things yourself, creating things with your own heart, hands, and mind is sublime. It makes you happier, more free, more your true self, less crazy, etc.... It feels good.

MAKE something! Make: songs, poems, scarves, cookies, gardens, paintings, records, blankets, jewellry, collages, skirts, cds, bookshelves, rugs, birdhouses, photos, soups, books, toys, hats, films, bags, zines, quilts, whatever! Create something unique, that no one else could make. It's something that everyone needs. Birds make nests, octopuses make gardens....the universe creates itself constantly....stars are being born, songs and poems are being born....it's just built into the universe....

New Blog Page for Sublime Creatures!

Ok, I've been too busy at school the past few months to do Sublime Creatures, so I've just had to postpone until now, when I can do it right. SO! Here we go again....

What is Sublime Creatures? It's a little homemade DIY art/craft/publishing/music company. This blog will have photos of crafts, visual art, cds, and books/zines available, along with ordering info and a bunch of other stuff (some ranting, etc...). Photos and info will start appearing all this week, and I will update every couple of weeks from now on, now that my life is a little less crazy (??)....

Most of the Sublime Creatures things will be made by me, but hopefully there will soon be photos and cds from friends too.

I'm constantly making new stuff, and will try to get them up fairly quickly.

Next blog is a more detailed explanation of the Sublime Creatures "philosophy" - which I's planned to do moonths ago....Sorry for the loooooong wait.
